Voluntary Public Service

Voluntary public service offers a meaningful way to engage with your community and contribute to social well-being. By participating in various initiatives such as mentorship programs, weekend schools, food distribution centers, and humanitarian aid organizations, you can support individuals in need and promote a culture of empathy and collaboration. Whether you are guiding students, assisting local cultural events, or taking part in dialogue initiatives, every effort helps strengthen the social fabric and fosters a sense of collective responsibility.

True volunteerism is rooted in selfless service, without financial compensation or mandatory commitments. To ensure the integrity of voluntary work, activities within private businesses, such as law firms or private sports camps, are not eligible. Additionally, logged hours should reflect active contributions toward a goal—merely engaging in social interactions without a structured effort does not qualify. By dedicating time to meaningful service, volunteers not only uplift others but also gain valuable personal growth, leadership skills, and a deeper connection to their community.

Expedition/Exploration

Expedition and exploration activities should be personally planned and led, focusing on immersive experiences rather than structured trips like mission tours, conferences, or workshops. While participants are responsible for organizing and executing their journey, adult supervision is encouraged for guidance and safety. The goal is to create a self-driven adventure that challenges individuals while fostering independence, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Activities should be engaging and require active participation for 6 to 8 hours per day to count toward the program's requirements.
To maintain the program's integrity, expeditions should not be related to future academic or career pursuits, such as college visits or internships. Additionally, trips meeting the duration requirements for a higher award level can be submitted alongside a lower-level application. However, if a trip was previously approved at a lower level, it may not automatically qualify for a higher award. This ensures that each level of achievement reflects new challenges and personal growth rather than simply repeating past experiences.

Physical Fitness

Physical fitness should be a personal journey focused on growth and well-being. Goals should be challenging yet achievable, encouraging skill development and progress. While team sports and school activities can contribute to overall fitness, they should take place outside regular class hours and not be tied to academic credits. The emphasis should be on consistent effort rather than external recognition, ensuring that personal improvement remains the main objective.
To maintain the integrity of a fitness goal, activities should be independent and intentional. Simple daily movements, such as walking to class, do not qualify as dedicated physical fitness efforts. Instead, planned workouts or structured training sessions outside of daily routines are necessary. Whether tracking progress with fitness devices or setting individualized challenges, the focus should always be on continuous self-improvement and personal commitment.
